About 86 Armoured
86 Armoured was inspired by numerous other opinion blogs over the years. My mission is to cover the club at a deeper level than most other sites do. Too little attention is given to off-pitch matters, and the bigger picture is often overlooked. Arsenal has lost its DNA. It’s up to us fans to bring it back.
Fan discussion is meaningful to me, and I want to be as interactive as possible. I’m also keen to understand what others within the game make of our club. So I will also be sharing the views of various professionals within the game via ‘Expert Insight’ pieces for a unique perspective.
Regular or guest writers are welcome. I’d love to hear from some international Gooners too. A YouTube channel is also in the works. Do get in touch if you want to be involved!
A little About Me
My name’s Tarai, born and bred in London, and sick of how our club is being run. As a kid, I had no access to match tickets or games on TV. So I distantly followed AFC as/when I could from 4 to 12.
I never got to see Arsenal at Highbury. My first match at the Emirates was after the last of the invincibles had already left.
I boycotted merchandise & stadium purchases from 2014 and games from 2018.
Why 86 Armoured?
‘The Arsenal’ was founded in 1886, as Dial Square FC, by workers of the Royal Arsenal Woolwich complex.
Kroenke has destroyed this club and turned it into Arsenal PLC. The modern Arsenal couldn’t be further from our roots. I don’t identify with it, and I wanted the blog to reflect this.
So to honour their legacy and remind fans of our roots, I chose the name 86 Armoured. Hopefully one day Arsenal will resemble ‘The Arsenal’ once more.
